In days gone by, the artisans of the Zuiderzee region worked together very naturally. But collaboration is a skill that has largely been lost, now that so much is produced by anonymous workers in huge factories. Maki Suzuki of designers' collective Åbäke challenged the artisans of the Zuiderzee Museum to make a boat, which meant they needed to work together. The finished product is a combination of different types of knowledge, skills, beauty and humour. It showcases some of the many craftspeople, materials, techniques and forms of the Zuiderzee.
