NOAM TORAN & MARLOES TEN BHÖMER

Scriptwriter + Director
Production : Zuiderzee Museum (Nl)
Designers : Noam Toran & Marloes Ten Bhömer

For designers Noam Toran and Marloes ten Bhömer, a craft is not limited to a set of technical skills – there are also social, political and personal aspects, and these feature in pre-industrial work songs. Work songs brings rhythm to monotonous tasks and make hard work easier. By singing about their shared hardships and joys, workers strengthened their feeling of solidarity. Based on discussions with various artisans and museum staff, Noam Toran and Marloes ten Bhömer have created a contemporary labourers' song for the Zuiderzee Museum.
