Over the past years, Schloss Hollenegg for Design has collected a number of objects, which also means it
has collected a number of stories. “20:00, Dinner.” is an installation that will bring to life those collected
objects through the stories they are willing to share. During a dinner, the 3 chosen objects will be in a
conversation, reflecting on the time they have spent there and questioning the reasons for their own
existence.
As human beings, we have the power to give life to objects, we can decide if they are useful or not, if they
are beautiful or not, if they are silent or not. Objects spend their time waiting for the moment we decide they
will be the highlight of a situation. Within the installation, the notion of time will be manipulated. In a dinner
setting, where the time is constantly between 20:00 and 20:59, objects will be living and speaking their
stories out loud. Visitors are the spectators of this conversation, as if objects decided to live, think and
experience life without them. This permanent dinner stages the ability of objects to generate innumerable
stories, that we should invest time to listen to, investigate and relate to.
